Page 1 of 2 Wijchen 2010This weekend we had the pleasure of being in Wijchen once again. It was fabulous to see such a turn out and show of support considering the bad weather. Both days were very well attended throughout most of the classes and it was a very enjoyable weekend. Senior 1 Headclass: 1st Ronny & Anne Romijn
Another convincing win from Ronny & Anne. A great look and an increase in confidence secured their win. Now they need to work hard on sweating in new choreography and address some timing issues but overall their claim to this title was never under any serious threat. 2nd Bert & Marion Egelmeers We understand this couple have been off the floor with illness recently and considering this they gave an outstanding performance. They have definitely improved their frame and this helped to give a calmer look. They also, like the winners, have some timing issues in Quickstep. 3rd Martin van de Mark & Inge van der Mark-Mulder
Martin is a very experienced dancer who always looks confident. They both always seem to enjoy what they are doing and this is very attractive to watch. However their shapes get quite straight and this can give a dated look in comparison to those above them. 4th Martin & Jacqueline Hofmeijer
Martin & Jacqueline do not yet have the experience of those above them and this of course takes time to acquire. They now need all the necessary information and knowledge to be more successful in the future. Quickstep needs more rehearsal. Senior 2 Headclass: 1st Ed & Trudy van Uden In the early rounds they were certainly not at their best but the final although not a peak performance was considerably better, securing an easy win. To become more successful Worldwide they must now learn how to stay sharp from the very beginning to the very end of a competition. Congratulations for today. 2nd Marcel Bulten & Lydia Spijkerboer-Bulten This was the best we have seen Marcel & Lydia in a competition. A much improved back and arm line gave the whole look much more sharpness than in the past. However this now needs more work for consistency and there are some inexcusable foot faults and timing issues that need to be corrected!
3rd Dick & Edith van Starkenburg Dick & Edith struggle to maintain a clear arm and shoulder line. Although better in places it still needs more work. They bring a nice mature approach to their dancing and there are bound to be many more interesting battles for second place ahead.
4th Paul VandeRul & Nini Kuypers A young looking energetic couple with a nice look. They really 'give it a go' but have to be careful this doesn't result in the timing being rushed. 5th Jan Brummer & Joke Westerlaken A couple with potential that can never be missed on the dance floor. They should be careful with their first group in Slow Foxtrot as it can put them across the music. 6th Klaas & Anja Dusselaar Maybe a little unlucky on this occasion to end up in 6th place. Now attention needs to be on weight release and movement across the floor as this is less than the couples above them. Senior 3 Headclass: 1st Jaap & Marianne Willemstein Once again they managed to fight off all the competition from behind with a good solid performance. It is not always as tidy or stylised as it could be but they keep their cool and they deliver 5 dances in a 'no nonsense' way. Congratulations.
2nd Peter & Phien Abbink The first competition we have seen them in since their disappointment at the Dutch Championships. They also deliver 5 dances confidently and without any big mistakes which is a credit to them. Now they need a more visually strong look and projection in order to challenge to win. Its very nice to see you back on the floor.
3rd Albert & Hennie de Vries
Unfortunately not consistent over all 5 dances. Much better in the slower dances than the faster ones. Albert delivered, in our opinion, the best male dancing on the floor on this occasion. However it is all about the performance as a couple meaning on this occasion they ended in third position.
4th Cor & Hannie Zeeman Cor was another man that put in a good performance today. Unfortunately they were not always together though and this resulted in some breaking down. Promenade position needs attention in all dances. Easily 4th now more work needed to challenge higher.
5th Martin Geens & Nadia Solon Martin maintains good posture and it is nice to see a man not dropping all his heels on a weave!
6th Jan & Martha Gerwig A tall good looking couple that are keeping their shape better than in the past. Jan has a tendency to stoop over Martha though which causes him to lose his back line. 7th Cor & Sophie Ronda Completing this final Cor & Sophie are sometimes unfairly overlooked due to their height. However they are good dancers that could have been higher up in this field. Be careful that your Viennese Waltz doesn't get 'clipped'. Click here for the Amateur Write Up..
